JSBox Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 29, 2026

JSBox is an IDE for learning JavaScript on iOS. It aims to provide a safe sandbox for running JavaScript, for educational purposes only.

This privacy policy applies to the iOS app itself, its embedded frameworks and app extensions, and the official examples we provide. It obviously does not apply to scripts that you, the user, write yourself. When such a script uses a network API, please note that other privacy policies (of the API provider) may also apply.

The App is not a "platform" for running any code. It is a learning environment for running your own programs. A script produces whatever its code says it will, so read the code before you run it, especially when it comes from someone else.

1. Data JSBox Collects

In short, the App itself does not collect any of your data. There is no account system, and there are no analytics, tracking, advertising or crash-reporting components. We do not even count how many people use the App. We only need to provide a safe programming environment, so we have no reason to keep information about you.

Some APIs deserve care, because they can request your data, for example location, calendar and reminders. A script makes those requests, and you decide at that moment whether to grant them. Read the code before you run a script that someone else gave you.

All scripts and data stay on your device. The App has no backend service, so we neither receive nor can access this content.

2. Data on Your Device

  1. Scripts and files: Scripts, text and other files that you write or import are stored in this app's sandbox. File sharing is enabled, so you can view and edit these files in the iOS Files app.
  2. Local data: Data produced while a script runs is stored in this app's own storage. Other apps cannot read it.
  3. Widgets: Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets only read scripts and data saved by this app on the same device. They send nothing outside.
  4. System permissions: The permissions below are requested only when a script calls the matching API, and you decide at that moment whether to grant them.
    • Calendar (read): events are read when a script calls the calendar API.
    • Reminders (create): a reminder is created when a script calls the reminders API.
    • Location (while in use): the current location is read when a script calls the location API.
    • Photos: the system photo picker opens when a script calls the photo API. Only the items you select are returned.
    • Notifications: a local notification is posted when a script calls the notification API. You may deny any permission. If you deny one, the matching API becomes unavailable and other features keep working.
  5. Clipboard: This app reads or writes the clipboard only when a script calls the clipboard API.

3. Network Requests

This app provides a network API. A request is sent only when a script you run calls that API. The destination, method and content are decided entirely by the script. We do not proxy, log or forward these requests. How the destination service handles data is governed by that service's own privacy policy.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

  • No account: There is no sign-in and no user account.
  • No device identifiers: We do not collect IDFA, IDFV, MAC address or any other device identifier.
  • No ads or tracking: This app shows no ads, contains no ad code, and performs no cross-app tracking or device fingerprinting.
  • No analytics: This app has no usage statistics, behavioural analytics or crash reporting.
  • No upload of scripts or files: Your scripts and files do not leave your device, unless you send them yourself through the system share sheet.
  • No payment data: This app has no in-app purchases. We collect no payment information.
  • No sale of personal information: We do not collect or sell your personal information.

5. Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data that a website writes into your browser, usually to identify a visitor anonymously.

The App itself writes no cookies. Scripts and third-party code may receive or store cookies when they reach the network. Whether to accept them is decided by you and the destination site.

6. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will act promptly.

7. Your Rights and Controls

  • Delete scripts and files: You can delete scripts in the app, or delete this app's files in the iOS Files app.
  • Clear local data: Delete the scripts or uninstall the app to remove the related data.
  • Manage permissions: You can change calendar, reminders, location, photos and notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
  • Other requests: For any question about the processing described in this policy, contact us at the address below.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy. When we do, we publish the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date, and the new version takes effect when it is posted. Please check this page for the current version before you use the App.
