IFME RAW User Guide
Last updated: September 2, 2026
This guide covers IFME RAW's features and how to use them. IFME puts a manual RAW camera in your pocket: full manual exposure, manual focus, true RAW (DNG/ProRAW) capture, and cinematic film looks baked into the capture itself — all within one-handed reach.
1. Getting Started
- Download IFME RAW for free from the App Store.
- On first launch, walk through the onboarding pages to learn the core capabilities, then reach the camera.
- Grant camera and photo library access (nothing is ever uploaded).
- New users get a 3-day free trial of IFME RAW; you can cancel anytime after the trial starts.
2. The Shooting Interface
- Viewfinder: full-screen live preview. Tap anywhere to focus (setting the exposure point at the same time), pinch to zoom, double-tap to reset to 1×.
- Control bar (below the preview): "WB" white balance button on the left, a live histogram in the middle (double width; tap to switch between Luminance and RGB), and "MODE" on the right to cycle exposure modes.
- Bottom bar: Gallery | Guides | Shutter | Aspect | Looks.
- Three-dot menu (top right): opens the settings panel.
3. Manual Control
Exposure modes (MODE)
Tap MODE to cycle through:
- AUTO: fully automatic exposure. Tap the preview to spot-meter and lock exposure on a region.
- S (Shutter priority): you choose the shutter speed; ISO is automatic.
- ISO priority: you choose the ISO; shutter is automatic.
- M (Manual): you control both shutter and ISO.
Shutter
- Range: 1/16000 s – 30 s (clamped to device capability).
- Operation: tap the shutter control and slide on the top ruler to pick a stop (AUTO included).
ISO
- Range: 32 – 102400 (clamped to device capability).
- Operation: tap the ISO control and slide on the top ruler to pick a stop (AUTO included).
Exposure compensation (EV)
- Tap EV and slide on the right-edge vertical bar to adjust compensation (range ±3, or the device maximum), with 0 at the midpoint tick.
White balance (WB)
- Tap "WB" to expand the temperature slider and presets.
- Manual color temperature range: 2500K – 7000K.
- Presets: Auto / Incandescent (2700K) / Fluorescent (3800K) / Daylight (5500K) / Cloudy (6500K).
Focus
- Autofocus: tap the preview; a rectangular focus box appears and both focus and exposure point are locked.
- Manual focus (MF): drag the focus dial on the left edge of the preview to enter manual focus and fine-tune the lens position continuously. Focus peaking is displayed live while dragging, precise to the pixel.
- Double-tap the preview to reset focus and exposure.
4. RAW Capture
- PRO RAW: with "PRO RAW" enabled in settings, the shutter saves the original DNG (devices supporting Apple ProRAW output ProRAW automatically — also a DNG container) and derives a processed photo with the selected film look.
- Processed format: choose JPEG (most compatible) or HEIC (most efficient) in settings.
- HDR: enable in settings for brighter highlights and deeper shadows.
5. Live Instruments
- Histogram: the live histogram in the center of the control bar; tap to switch between Luminance and RGB to expose like a pro.
- Zebras: shown automatically while adjusting exposure as a highlight warning, hidden 2 seconds after your last interaction.
- Light meter: a real metering readout on the exposure axis showing deviation from the metering baseline.
- EXIF: tap to inspect full EXIF — aperture, shutter, ISO, focal length, exposure compensation, and more.
6. Film Looks
Looks are not filters applied after capture — they are color recipes baked into the capture itself: previewed live while shooting, and automatically rendered into a processed photo at RAW output. Grain, halation, vignette, and MTF shaping are tuned independently per look.
| Look | Character |
| --- | --- |
| Native | System passthrough, no processing |
| Pure | Minimal processing, all sensor detail preserved |
| Canvas | Painterly, warm and rich |
| Aurora | Bright and airy |
| Crimson | Rich reds, wider highlight halation |
| Sierra | Warm, classic film tones |
| Mist | Cool, light and airy |
| Graphite | Monochrome, pronounced grain |
7. RAW Editor
Open any IFME capture from your photo library to enter the editor:
- Crop: rotate, straighten, mirror, horizontal/vertical perspective, multiple aspect ratios.
- Adjust: exposure, contrast, saturation, skin tones, fill light, vignette, sharpness, temperature, tint.
- Texture: grain, halation, MTF (micro-contrast), film simulation strength — each adjustable independently.
- Edits re-render from the original RAW, so the processed photo and RAW always stay traceable.
8. Composition and Aspect
- Guides: choose thirds / golden ratio (four positions) / rabatment / grid in settings, or off.
- Aspect: original (4:3) / square (1:1) / 35mm (3:2) / pano (65:24) / Insta (4:5), previewed live.
9. Capture Assist
- Zoom: 0.5× – 20× continuous zoom across your iPhone's cameras; long-press the zoom stop in the bottom bar to bring up the zoom dial.
- Low-light bracketing: with "Night" enabled in settings, the shutter captures a 3-frame manual exposure bracket at EV [-1, 0, +1] — ISO fixed, exposure duration doubling per stop — with sensor-shift stabilization where available, ideal for handheld night composites.
- Flash: toggle in settings.
- Timer: off / 3 s / 5 s / 10 s.
10. Settings Panel
Open the three-dot menu for settings:
- HDR: brighter highlights and deeper shadows.
- Processed format: JPEG / HEIC.
- PRO RAW: save the original DNG and derive a crafted photo.
- Timer: off / 3s / 5s / 10s.
- Location tagging: off / coarse / fine (GPS precision written to photos).
- System processing: how much Smart HDR / Deep Fusion processing Apple's built-in look applies (fastest / balanced / smartest).
- Output compression: compression level for processed photos.
- Membership: subscription status, restore purchases, manage subscription.
11. Membership and Restore
- IFME RAW is an annual subscription. First-time subscribers get a 3-day free trial; after the trial it renews yearly and can be canceled anytime.
- After reinstalling or switching devices, tap "Restore Purchases" in settings to recover your entitlement; if nothing is found you'll see "No purchases to restore".
- Manage your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
